Biography
Juan Padrón Blanco (Matanzas, Cuba. 1947-2020) was a Cuban cartoonist, animator, illustrator, comic artist, screenwriter, film director and graduate in Art History. He is best known for being the creator of Elpidio Valdés, as well as for his animated feature films Vampires in Havana (1985) and More Vampires in Havana (2003).
In 1974, he began his work as an animation director at the ICAIC, bringing his comic book characters to life. Previously, he had worked as a camera operator on animations for the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR).
