The MovieWise Take
"Jung Sung-il has successfully transitioned from the vanguard of Korean cinephilia to a visceral genre architect, proving that the deepest knowledge of film history is the sharpest tool for explosive, kinetic reinvention. By weaponizing his encyclopedic obsession to deconstruct and reassemble the action thriller, he is rapidly carving out a legacy as a visionary who treats the screen not just as a canvas, but as a site of glorious, systematic carnage."
