Biography
Helmut Friedrich Wilhelm "Helmfried" Graf von Lüttichau (born November 20, 1956, in Hanover) is a German actor, voice actor, and poet. Helmfried von Lüttichau hails from the Meissen noble family of Lüttichau. His father was an official in the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), and his mother was a bookseller. He received his acting training from 1977 to 1980 at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich.
At the beginning of his acting career, he performed primarily on the stages of various theaters. For instance, he acted at the Theater Wuppertal from 1980 to 1982, at the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt from 1982 to 1985, and at the Freie Volksbühne Berlin from 1985 to 1986. He spent his longest tenure—from 1987 to 1992—at the Nationaltheater Mannheim. From 1992 to 1994, von Lüttichau performed at the Theater Oberhausen; from 1994 to 1996 at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus; and in 1997 at the Düsseldorfer Kammerspiele.
Alongside his theater work, he began appearing in films—initially for television and later for the cinema—starting in 1985. Since 1997, he has worked as a freelance actor in film and television. He gained widespread recognition through films such as *Ossi’s Eleven* and *Wickie und die starken Männer*, as well as television series like *Tramitz and Friends*, *Der letzte Bulle*, *Alles was recht ist*, and *Hubert und Staller*—an early-evening series on the ARD network in which he played the character Staller. He lends a distinctive flair to the role of Dr. Kästle in *Alles was recht ist* through his use of the Hessian dialect.
He is also a poet. In 2012, his first book, *was mach ich wenn ich glücklich bin* (What Do I Do When I’m Happy), was published. Helmfried von Lüttichau resides in Munich.
